Art Classes For Kids In Grades K-6
I am a practicing artist, teacher and mom who has a passion for nurturing the creative spirit that exists in every child....the spirit of exploration, playfulness, curiosity, expressivity and inquiry. Ultimately, I believe that this spirit leads the child to develop independence, flexibility, confidence, persistence, and the ability to find many solutions to a problem.
My art classes are designed to encourage students to awaken and expand their creative spirit and imagination, to express themselves and to have fun! They will be introduced to, and experiment with a variety of materials including watercolors, pastel, charcoal, pen and ink, collage, acrylic paints and more. The work of artists past and present and from different cultures will be introduced and discussed.
Classes are tailored to the students in the class. I have experience teaching all levels, from beginner to advanced, ages 3 to 73, so students can expect to work at the level that is right for them. Older students will have the opportunity to build their observational skills and work on techniques used by artists to create the illusion of space and volume on a flat surface. In other words, to make something look real. They will also have a chance to work outdoors in my beautiful yard as weather permits!
I have been teaching art to students of all ages for three decades and I hold an EdM from the Harvard Graduate School of Education with a focus on The Arts in Education. I also hold an MAT degree from Tufts/School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. I hope to meet your young artist soon!
Session I begins September 15th, 2025 and runs for 6 weeks through October 27th
Session II begins October 29th and runs 6 weeks through December 19th
Session III begins January 5th, 2026 and runs 6 weeks through February 13th (except Monday class)
Session IV begins February 23rd and runs for 8 weeks through April 17th
Session V begins April 27th and runs for 6 weeks through June 8th
** Fridays are a little different: Classes start Sept 12th and run for 6 weeks through
October 24th. And November 7th through Dec 19th, for 6 weeks. No class Sept 26th andOctober 31st.
CLASSES OFFERED -
Monday: 3:45 - 5:00 for grades 1-3
Tuesday: 3:45 - 5:00 for grades 3-5
Wednesday: 4:00 - 5:00 grades K/1
Thursday: 3:45 - 5:00 for grades 2-4
Friday: 3:45 - 5:00 for grades 4-6 **
Classes are limited to 6 students, with a minimum of 3 enrolled to run the class.
Except for K/1 which is limited to 5 students
6 week sessions - $210 including all materials; 8 week sessions - $280; 5 weeks sessions -$175
If a class is cancelled by me due to weather or family illness, I will offer to reimburse you for the missed class OR offer a credit for a future class. Your choice. No refunds for missed classes.

Art Studio Workshop was such a wonderful find in our hometown. We are so lucky to have Ms. Kerry right in Medfield with her beautiful art studio.
